There will be no school on Monday, Jan. 16 th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Holiday. This day is a day to show servitude- Students, on this day take the time to do
something to help and serve others.

We will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, January 18 th at 11 am for
School Improvement day!

Attention ALL SENIORS & 8 th GRADERS: The cap, gown, and tassel is $34. The deadline to pay is March 31 st .

Seniors and their Parents: FAFSA Night here at Meridian will be on Thursday, January 26 th
from 4-6 p.m. Parents will need to schedule an appointment. Please have your parent call to
schedule an appointment with Ms. Regina in the guidance department if you need to complete
your FAFSA.

There will be an FCCLA meeting today during Advisory in Ms. Bartlett’s room.

The Homecoming game is Feb 10 th . The homecoming dance is Feb. 11 th from 6-8.   
Also, if someone is interested in running for Homecoming Class Attendants please see
Mrs. Ruiz. If any SENIOR is interested in running for Homecoming King and Queen,
please come see Mrs. Ruiz.

Attention 6 th Grade Girls: There a sign-up sheet for a new program called Global Girls. Any
6 th grade girl who is interested in signing up or for more information, please see Ms. Bre at the

Students in grades 4-11 interested in trying out for the 2023-24 Middle School and High School
cheer squads, should pick up an application in the office the week of January 10 th thru 18 th . All completed and signed forms should be returned to the office by 10 am Wednesday, January 18 th . Current physicals should be in on file in the nurse’s office by Friday, January 20th .

On Thursday, February 9th we will have a “Celebration of Excellence” sponsored by the
Meridian Basketball team and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America:
recognizing African Americans central and critical role in United States history, present day
achievements and accomplishments. Time: 6-8 p.m. in the Meridian Gym. The attire is Black
and White cost is $25.00. See Mrs. Bartlett or Mr. David Davis for more information
Entertainment:  Live band, Singing, Poetry reading, and more. Dinner will be served
(Choice of Turkey or Chicken/ sides/Dessert)

There is a High School Track and Field Sign-up sheet in the front office any questions see Ms.

Any junior high students who were in art first semester need to come to Mr. C's room to pick up any artwork that they made if they would like to keep them. Please do this before Friday, the 13th. Available times to pick up artwork are in the morning before 8 a.m., 6th hour, and after
school. Today is the last day to pick up artwork.

Attention Students: NO students should be on the stage unless you have permission to do so.

The Buffalo Soldiers Scholarship is available in the guidance office. The deadline to
apply for this scholarship is Friday, March 17 th .

William Fred Hannan Scholarship is available in the guidance office. The deadline to
apply for this Scholarship is March 31 st .

SIU Credit Union Scholarship is available in the guidance office. It is a 1,000-dollar
scholarship opportunity. Deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 31, 2023

Township Official of Illinois Scholarship is available in guidance. It is a 2,000 – dollar
scholarship opportunity Deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 1, 2023.

Egyptian HS Boys will play Fulton City, Ky at 3:00 p.m. and Century HS Boys will play Cooter, MO at
4:30 p.m.
